I looked into the view finder and twisted the black textured ring and I did not see any difference. There are more than one ring and the only one that moves is not making a change in the view.
for those wanting to know. I have been a pro photog for 14 years. all lenses have Manual Focusing capabilities. this particular lens is an AF lens (Auto Focus) which means it can be used on both Manual and Auto Focusing cameras. Macro means that it will focus at a close distance to your subject I.E. close up details of flowers, insects etc. The 28-200mm is your focal range which is the zoom distance in Lamen terms and the f/ is the low light capabilities. stands for Aperture also F Stop. it basically is a number that let's you know how much light is allowed through the lens when taking a picture. the lower the number the better the pictures are in dark lighting. that is the simplest I can explain it. hope I helped.
can you turn it on and look thru the view finder...then just twist the black textured ring around the lens...if the picture goes blurry to clear and back with the twisting then its a manual.....anyone who is serious about photography will want to know this...it'll help raise your bids to know.
When I say what kind, I mean what does it read in terms of mm (55-200mm, or something like that) and focal length (f/4, etc?). Sorry if I confused you.
Yes, I want to know what kind of lens. I'm a photographer, always looking for more gear. Mightybob - if it's an EF mount, it should work with the EOS line of digital cameras.
