Yes, there is a HUGE difference between crochet and tatting. Crochet, even with thread, is more dense/thicker with loops while tatting is used with a shuttle or needle with threads of varying widths. Tatting is 'lacier' than crochet and is made mostly with thread that you use two main stitches with: half-hitches and picots to get the 'lace.'
I just learned needle tatting and LOVE it and the results better than crochet.
Crochet, like knitting, will always have its place, though, with afghans and clothing because you usually use yarn instead of thread like you do with tatting.
Very pretty piece you're auctioning of a crocheted "Dream Catcher."
You can still change the title to "Crocheted Dream Catcher" because that's what it is and can be hung to spin freely. You might gain more bids rather than with 'doily' which this isn't because of the ring.
In fact, I would suggest the winner use E6000 glue to add crystals in places on the front and back and hang it on a cup hook in a window. It would be STUNNING.
you are also very creative at craft's I love doing craft's myself when I have time this was given to me and right now I just dont have the time too do much of any time to do anything with it
