Description

The listing, Industrial Quality Quilting Batting has ended.

This auction is for one piece of 44" x 10 yards of industrial quality quilting batting which is super thin. It's the perfect batting to make baby quilts since its light weight, yet warm. Estimated shipping is about $18.00 parcel post. Estimated weight of batting is 5lbs. Looks like felt, when I went to Walmart's fabric department it looked like Needle Quilting batting. I think it's cotton but not 100% sure. Ends are slightly soiled but is not really noticeable (where it was standing)

With the information you gave I went to USPS.com and figured the price using parcel post insurance of $50.00 and delivery confirmation and it figured out to 15.61 to Middle Tennessee.

With most of the quilts I make I use 7' lengths so the remnant could be used for baby quilts! I appreciate any length and the 10 yard will go a ways to finish up everything in time for Christmas gifts!!

If I do, I think I will go for 5yds. it would be easier to pack. It all depends on the interest.

Well, I went to usps.com and checked the shipping. I put in regular package(not large package) and the weight of 5 lbs. It was $12.29 to ship from senders addy to my addy.
I double checked by clicking large package and entered the dimensions and it still came out $12.29 parcel post!! I am very pleased :-) So, if anyone is interested in the shipping costs go to the website and put in the senders zip and yours and click the other method of shipping (other than priority) and click on package and put in the weight. To be sure you can enter large package and the dimensions. Then add a dollar for confirmation. No matter how you figure this you will have a good idea the cost.
I do have another question: will you be doing more of these batting auctions?

Thank you spicynomad! I am going to go to the usps.com website and check for my zip code and senders. I think the trashbag idea would be the best. Then a box wouldn't have to be purchased. Just a trash bag and packing tape wrapped around it. Slap an address on it and the postage :-) I think the book issue/media mail was a joke as well. Maybe use a small paperback book so it wouldn't be so heavy !! lol
Lately I have found UPS to cost more than the postal service. I just received a 3 ft. doll in a large cardboard box and the post office only charged the sender $10. I also had an issue lately with UPS loosing a package that I allowed to ship out with only the $100. insurance. It was valued much higher. After filing the claim: they deducted what I paid for shipping (You figure that out, I paid the shipping and they charged me again for the shipping out of the insurance proceeds). I had to wait almost 3 mos for them to mail me a physical check. I couldn't even pick it up at the office. I'm sticking with the post office. They had a tracking number and they still lost it!!

Like I said it should be under 18.00, at the worst case scenerio. I just didn't want to quote less and have it come back more. This included the box.

What about UPS shipping?

I only have time to go to the post office. I tried a few zip codes and they came in about the same, all under $18.00. So I would say plan on $18.00 and I'll let you know exact when you win the bid.

just because there's a book in it, doesn't mean it qualifies as media mail and honestly, if I ever received anything and had to pay postage because someone did this- I'd return to sender and file for a refund!

GOT AN ANSWER!!!

I did some estimates on the cost of postage using the worst case scenario and came up with it costing less than $18.00 to ship (for both zip codes given above) going Parcel post. Hope this helps. Dimensions are 19 x 12 x 13 and I added some weight for the box and was using 6.5 lbs.

I have an idea, since postage is such a big issue and I can't give an exact answer, what if I let the winner decide if they want the full 10 yards and pay full postage or it they want me to use a large flat rate box and put as much as possible in it. I think either way the person willing the batting will be getting a great deal.

Yes, I accept paypal. It would be too big for a large flat rate box unless I cut it and put it into two large ones. But I think it would be cheaper if i pack it in an empty xerox box. I don't have one right now to figure out how much it would cost. Sorry........

Did you figure out how much postage would be? Would it fit in a large flat rate box?

It wouldn't cost much to ship then. I am very interested. I can't figure postage though since I dont' know dimensions. USPS has a website where you can put in your zip/the buyers zip along with weight and dimensions and give you a near exact estimate of what the shipping will be.
It sounds like you have cotton mountain mist (or similair) batting. I have purchased it numerous times.
The reason I asked as to how long each piece is; is that you show a stack of batting; resembling 4 pieces. So you are sell one piece of batting that is one solid piece of 10 yrds. Thank you, I was just confused by the picture. ;-)

It's one piece that is 10 yards by 44". The picture shows 4 pieces that I cut from the roll so I could lift it (it was really heavy). So what you would get is one piece of 10 yards by 44" If I fold the piece, it would probably fit in a xerox box so you can base shipping on those dimensions. I was using a home postage scale, so once I get a bid on the piece I will go to the post office and get an exact weight with the box.

Since more of you are asking about shipping. The fiber by itself is a little under 5lbs. and it would be shipping from 90744. I hope this helps. Also, since this came off a large roll the very bottom and top are a little soiled, but its just on the edge where it was sitting on the floor.

The best way to ship it might be packaging it in large black garbage bags and put delivery confirmation and insurance on it. I'm afraid the box might end up costing more than the fiber.

I'm not really sure, each piece is approx. 10yds by 44". It's more like a felt, I think it might 100% cotton and looks like needle quilting batting. I would have to weight it, but I would need to find a box first to put it in.
