its some kind of plastic.

its got the holes along bottom so you can put in a binder book or even a folder.

my 2 nieces and myself have them and they are actually pretty durable..they will last a while..has a zipper to open and close it..i happen to use mine in my purse with some things in it and it gets bounced all over and is holding up just fine...so its made pretty well!! i have had no complaints on these ones at all!!
