The listing, WiFi range extender has ended.
Amped wireless WiFi range extender. Plugs into a standard power outlet. Use this to extend WiFi coverage to dead zones in your home that receive little or no signal strength from your wireless router.
It does not need a wired connection to the router. The Ethernet port is for hard wiring a device to the network. For example, if you have a desktop computer with no WiFi adapter, you can plug in to this extender to connect to the network.
How far does this thing really cover say i plug it into a wall outlet 60ft away from my router will it pick up? also is this the one that uses the wiring in your house to send the signal and could you tell me the name of it i can't make it out on the picture . Thank you
The manufacturer lists the maximum range in an open space as 6500 sq ft. Obviously, results will depend on factors such as construction of your home and interference from other 2.4ghz devices. It is not Ethernet over power, just wireless. The brand is Amped Wireless, model rec10. Hope this helps!
Here is what im trying to do, I am with CenturyLink(I think they were Comcast at one time,or still are in some places) And they provided me with a zyxel PK5001Z modem/router combo(Yea its a router and combo together) Anyway I have the modem/router in the front of my house in a room and it only picks up signal mainly in the front of my house, And i have a smartTV i just bought its WIFI with a ROKU stick built in i got for my back bedroom but as i said the issue is I cant get any damn wifi to the back.
So im trying to figure out if i need to buy a router that helps expand the wifi signal i have been looking at something like this on Amazon but just trying to figure out what will work best for my situation.. If any Computer Tech savy guys in this area read this and have a suggestion please let me know ..
I think something like this Might work though, I could plug it in the front part of my house where their is strong signal and hopefully it push back into my other room and give me a strong wifi.
I actually do work in home theater installation and repair, so I have quite a bit of experience with Smart TVs and home networking. I encounter your problem nearly every day at work. Ideally, a stronger wireless router would be ideal, something like a Netgear Nighthawk. They're expensive, though (anywhere from $200-400, depending on specific model.) This extender or one like it would help if you did as you described and placed it in a midpoint in your home where the signal from your router is still strong. I recommend using a smartphone app like WiFi Analyzer to determine where your network's weak spots are to help determine the best placement for the extender.
Keep in mind, WiFi signals are also affected by the construction of your home; brick walls or older lathe and plaster walls can severely limit wireless signals. Also, if there are devices like cordless phones or baby monitors that run on the 2.4ghz band, you can get interference which will affect signal quality.
In all honesty, I try to avoid them. Their link speed is sub-par, and their range unreliable. Netgear at and Asus both make better basic routers for not much more than the linksys.
