Base of your cell phone rests in the slot & connects to the charger metal piece (Diagonal photos show it best) Back slot is for plugging in one end of your cell phone's cord. Then you connect the opposite cord end into a wall plug-in or your computer, depending on your cord's configuration. The fuzzy photo shows the gray slightly rubberized bottom designed to prevent sliding.

My IPhone 6+ fits perfectly--if I pry off the large rubber case my son put on for protection from my bumble fingers dropping the phone. I bought three of these at the same time because they were so hard to find.
