Description

The listing, Sofia Petrovna by Lydia Chukovskaya has ended.

This novel is about Sofia Petrovna, a widowed woman living in the Soviet Union during the Great Purge in the 1930's. She works as a typist at a Leningrad publishing company. Sofia loves and supports communism as wells as Vladimir Lenin and Joseph Stalin. She supports everything they do until one day her son is put in jail for doing something that the government considered against Stalin. Book has 18 chapters and 120 pages. Translated by Eliza Kellogg Werth and published in English by Northwestern University Press.

This is a good read for either pleasure or as course material, as it was required for my History 2 class. Anyone who enjoys Russian history and/or strong women would enjoy this book.

**This book is used. There is no writing inside but there is different colored hilights and stickers on the spine and back indicating that it's used. There are some small tears and folds but nothing too drastic.
