The listing, Princess Diana Collectable Postage Stamps has ended.
The first official stamps bearing portraits of the late Princess Diana were issued in Great Britain soon after her tragic death. Created by the Royal Mail, the official postal authority of Great Britain, the stamps were initially prevented from release by Diana's brother, Earl Spencer. Amid a storm of controversy, the Royal Mail then threatened to destroy the entire issue. The public outcry was so strong that the Earl was forced to withdraw his objections, and later fully endorsed the stamp release.
These colorful stamps are prints using official photographs of the Princess - each taken by a different photographer - and are about twice the size of a regular U.S. stamp. Each portrait is framed by a border of purple, traditionally the symbol of royalty.
