Yes.doesnt need also mac compatible,works with mine(have windows 10)

You say it plays dvd, as well as burns them. Im not very literate when it comes to these things so my questions may make me seem a little slow. What would I need to watch a dvd, if you are able to play on this device? Also, What do you need to burn and how do you burn? Is burn another word for make copies?

you need nothing but plug it in ( I assume windows will at least have a generic driver to install it with plug and play) it plays all including more extentions as he mentioned
it burns dvd and probably cd (it plays blu-ray but not burn them)
for burning windows does come burning apps. i like nero myself which you can download for free (am using nero9 now)
