Questions & Comments
1.Check the name of the card, see if it has spelling errors. If it does it is incorrect (or a misprint, but this is rare) 2.Check the back of the card, see if the "Konami" on the back is spelled incorrectly. If it is,it's a fake 3.Check the number of stars on the card. Compare it to a guide to see if it is correct. 4.The card should have a gold or silver hologram on the bottom right hand corner. (looks like a shiny square) It should have a gold hologram only if the card is limited edition. The silver hologram is used if the card is first edition or neither. Some older 1st edition cards have a gold hologram instead of a silver one. The hologram should be there unless it is a fake.
5. If the card feels overly glossy or not glossy at all, it's usually fake. 6.Read the text. If the font is too thin or too thick, or there are spelling mistakes, it could be a fake, but some boosters have thicker text, for example, Cyberdark Impact. 7.Examine the picture. If it is blurry or poor quality, it may be fake, however note that Duel Terminal cards have a parallel coat which makes the cards look blurred.
8. If the color of the card is wrong, too pale or too bright, it's fake. Some boosters, like Gladiators Assault, have brighter colors and Duel Terminal cards have darker colors because of the parallel coat.
Monster = yellow Effect monster = orange Spell = turquoise Trap = Pink Fusion = Purple Ritual = Blue Token = Grey Synchro = White Xyz = Black
9.If the ID number (under the picture on the right hand side just above the text) is missing, it's fake. 10.On the back, if the TM, Konami, or R symbol are missing, it's fake. An exception is Egyptian God cards 11. If it doesn't have a serial number in the bottom left hand corner, its fake. It should be all numbers. However, a god card or championship prize card will instead say: "This card cannot be used in a duel." And a few cards do not have numbers, like Gate Guardian (so check this in some guide)
12. Also, check the card in light. However, the grammar on these are so unbelievable poor from being translated from Chinese they'll be easily spotted anyway. 13. Check the level stars. Check the level of the card to make sure it's correct. Then, check the stars. If the top of the star is blurred and faded, it's probably real. If the stars are "solid" then the card is fake.
Note: this only works for Monster, Effect monster and Ritual monster cards.
