The listing, Brass Sitting Buddha Meditating has ended.

The Sitting Buddha represents the ideals of good health, wealth, happiness, prosperity and longevity. He is known as Budai (Chinese) and Hotai (Japanese) and this statue is lovingly referred to as the Buddha of Wealth.
Theravada Buddhism has been the predominant religion in Thailand since early recorded history. For over 2500 years Thailand has been under the peaceful shelter of Buddhism. The Buddha's teachings (Dharma) color almost every aspect of life within the kingdom, uniting the people into a harmonious, peace-loving society.

In Thai statues, it is often common to see them with the legs in the "Single Lotus Pose," meaning that one leg rests on top of the other leg. The most common pose you will find in Thai temples is with Buddha sitting on the Lotus Blossom with his legs crossed, the left hand in the lap, and the right hand pointing to the ground with the palm facing inward toward the Buddha. This posture is known as Calling The Earth to Witness, and it relates to the moment of enlightenment for the Buddha.

This statue is particularly unique and beautiful because the brass is painted in luminous colors. The figurine stands 3.5" tall and is noticed anywhere in your room. it is also a perfect size for a personal meditation altar.

I've had it since I became a Buddhist 20 years ago. I got it in a oriental gift shop around that time. Buddhas were very hard to come by back then, and this one "sang to me", so to speak. It must have been bought overseas, as all the vendor's stuff appeared to be. He and his shop is no longer there. Sometimes when I shop, I know I am drawn to certain items that "feel" like mine and I don't doubt my first impression. Maybe He calls to one of you now.
