The listing, Antique Sift-Chine Flour Sifter, Serial #2529, All Metal has ended.

Antique Metal Flour Sifter. All Metal with two red painted stripes around sides. Front says Sift-Chine Guaranteed Satisfactory Made In U.S.A, side says Tested an Approved by Good Housekeeping Institute Good Housekeeping Magazine Serial 2529. The highest part measures 5 3/4 inches and the width measures 5.25 inches. There is some rust so I wouldn't recommend using it for baking but for the pleasure of collecting it. I got this from a bakery that went out of business.

Yes I still have my grandmother's sifter.I have been on the look out for one of those bakers tables with the sifter attached like my granny used to have.I would give anything to find one of those!!!People just don't cook anymore like they used too.I would give anything to sit down at the table and have some of my granny's homemade chicken and dumplings and homemade biscuits like she used to make. She taught me some things though and my kids loveeee chocolate gravy and biscuits lol.

I know what you mean. Every Saturday night my mom made beans in the bean dish and baked raisin bread in coffee cans. I grew watching my mom make homemade bread, canning all our fresh produce from the garden, making yogurt, even doughnuts in the wok. My father had a meat grinder and pasta maker. I certainly miss those days. One thing my mother still does every year is make homemade gingerbread houses with the homemade icing too. She makes enough to give to all the kids in the family.

She sounds so much like my granny. You made me think of my granny canning the best strawberry jelly. She would make canned beets and they were just the perfect amount of sugar and vinegar.I loved eating them with salt on them.Oh and her chow chow for beans was soooo good lol.She would even make homemade wine from the blackberries in or yard and I would sneak and drink it lol.I wish I knew how to can.I watched her do it so many times but I don't know if I could do it.Thanks for making me think of her memories.

Your welcome :)
They are good warm memories that I can look back on remember the closeness it brought between my mom and me. Because it wasn't just watching it was learning too. Not the canning part, though I did try it once. My family was very resourceful on a tight budget. I do wish I could do half the stuff my mom could, with my own daughter.

Thank you, it's really neat. I remember my mom having one and using it when I was a little girl. I think it had belonged to her Grandmother at one point.
