I am positive it's wool of some kind, it was from a mystery shawl club I belonged to yeas ago, I'm just not sure if it's merino wool or not.

It's in a hank that will go onto a swift to be wound into a cake and it should be on something, a swift, a pair of chair backs or similar to wind it. It's a lot of yardage and will tangle easily if you're not careful with it.
