Star, it's scented wax. Scentsy sells beautiful electric warmers. I guess they could be melted with any warmer if you would like to just try the scents; I've personally never used anything but a Scentsy warmer.

My friend sells Scentsy and the warmers are amazing! They have different sizes--plug-in, mid size and full size. Price varies, but generally $20-35 depending on size and style.They do have a few on clearance all the time, so it's good to check it out online.
