17 1/2 inch necklace chain. There's nothing wrong with it, it's just that it's too short for me and too close around my neck. I can't handle chains like that, it makes me feel like I'm suffocating. I don't know what kind of metal it's made from, sorry. I know it isn't nickel because I wore it every day for almost two weeks and I had no reaction, I'm allergic to nickel. It was something my boyfriend had gotten me, but I couldn't handle the suffocating feeling anymore, so I just put the pendant on a longer chain, something he understands all too well, and now I'm getting rid of the short chain the pendant came on.
