Lincoln Cent Errors
Included in this auction are the following:

2) The ‘filled letter’ error – lower part of the ‘B’ in Liberty
3) The ‘filled number’ error – the 5 in the date
4) The ‘cracked skull’ error
5) The ‘extra wheat’ error
6) The ‘gouged die’ error – the T in cent
7) The ‘high & low mint mark’ error
Mint errors are caused by deterioration in the die after many coins are struck or by a malfunction in the machinery. Many of these ‘oddities’ are quite common. You can research coin errors on the internet. If you check eBay you will see many for sale. The most famous errors include the 1955 ‘double die’ and the copper 1943 cent. If you collect Lincoln Cents you should have a few examples represented in your collection. Here is your chance to get some examples of the more common errors caused by problems such as die cracks, off center punches, and weak strikes. I collected quite a few of these and I have recently decided to reduce the size of my collection.
The BIE mint error – Liberty appears to be misspelled because of a die break between the letters BE
The ‘filled letter’ error – The lower part of the ‘B’ in Liberty is filled in due to a die crack
The ‘filled number’ error – The 5’ in the date is filled in due to a die crack
The ‘extra wheat’ error – extra appendages appear in wheat stalks due to cracking in the reverse die
The ‘cracked skull’ error – is caused by a die crack through Lincoln’s head
The ‘gouged die’ error – the T in cent appears to have an appendage similar to the extra wheat error
The ‘high / low mintmark error – is caused by a die shift
