This is a vintage collectible cat made in New Zealand. The inside of the tag tells you that this cat is made of "Paua Shell (pronounced pah-wah) and is found EXCLUSIVELY in the cold waters off the New Zealand coast. Every piece of this RARE and NATURAL seashell is unique in its individual beauty. The rich variety of patterns and colours are natures unique signature." The back of the tags says, "In my new home I will give you many years of enjoyment as a Memento of NZ."

The cat is over 20 years old but looks brand new! I remember my mom buying it on one our road trips. I will Google this piece and update everybody on my findings. The body is lighter, in color, than the head. The pictures do this beauty no justice! The pen is for size reference and not a part of the auction (unless you can talk me out of it) =)
