The listing, Vintage or Antique Mysterious Bone / Tusk / Tooth Carved Pendant Talisman has ended.

This mysterious piece came from an estate sale. The hand-written tag says "ivory" pendant. It could be ivory, bone or tusk. I'm unsure of its meaning, its age or its origin. The top is capped in metal that looks like tarnished silver, but it doesn't have any markings. There is a small loop at the top center to attach it to your own necklace. The pendant is about 2" tall and about 1.25" wide at the bottom. There are a few scratches but its difficult to say how it looked in its original condition.

Great auction, it almost looks like bone, ivory doesn't stain that dark. Unless they stained the back too. Nevertheless it is a very unique item. I will be trying for it. I collect ivory and bone items. This would be nice to add to the collection

Awesome! I hope it goes to a collector such as you, who appreciates its intrinsic value. My friend who makes knife handles from wood and bone is convinced it was made from walrus tusk. Its interesting to say the least, a good conversation piece if nothing else! Good luck to you!

It could be, I have a few walrus tusk handled knifes and a belt buckle. If it is heavy and cold like a stone and smooth then it it's ivory

They may have stained the back. Ivory doesn't change colors it will yellow a little but ivory usually stays like an off white.
