Description

The listing, 1920's -1960's ● GenieCo Chalkware Buddha Incense Holder ● A piece of history ● Made in USA ● GC has ended.

Not a tiny trinket!
About 4 3/4” tall, 3 1/8 wide at 1 point on the base.

This was serious "in the groove stuff" "back in da days" ...
— meditation alert!
— hippie alert!
— buddha collector alert!

This may only COME AROUND ONCE IN YOUR LIFETIME — here’s YOUR CHANCE!

You can read “Made in USA” on robe of the left arm, & along the bottom “Frequent use of Hindu incense is a healthful habit” — in an unmatched "font" like it was etched into the original mold?

Check out the write up at churchofgoodluck.com (see pic which shows their blip about this vintage buddhist piece).

They show this same incense holder along with a bigger store display version —

--- that traces it back to either a very early period in the 1920’s when it was manufactured by The Hindu Incense Manufacturing Company of Chicago;
--- or later in the 1960’s manufacturer by GenieCo.

When I researched I saw other versions that were slightly higher but less distinct (looks to me) in features, & those are stamped Made in USA - 1939 on the back (instead of on the side sleeve like this one — this one with no date).

The product was likely copied as time went on.

Another version I found had a note their’s was bought in 1955 — & it looks like an identical twin to this one — my closest guess is this is from 1955.

"If this relic could talk" — but it is certainly bound to make tongues talk in your home, especially when you whip out the “history” behind this buhddha.

I always get a good feeling from this little fellow — & I think he is truly worthy of the “good luck” destination of that church of good luck website.

We used for this for incense, & proudly so — & I hope whoever gets it does not just lock it away but keeps it out & uses it, lets others see it & appreciates it!

Please look at the pictures & make sure this will fit & work with your project or intended use before you place your bid; sold as-is.
