This auction is for a generous 50+ Red Chief Poppy Seeds. These are Californis poppy's, the easiest to grow. They can be planted now in most zones for a late fall blooming flower. Very pretty with Mums If you plant the seeds in late fall, they will most likely lie dormant until conditions are just right in the spring. The seeds germinate at around 55F. Mine often come up in the fall, get to about 8 inches, and then will "winter over", but most wait until spring to start sprouting. If it is very hot where you live, then plant in the fall.When the seeds decide it is time to germinate, it takes about 10 to 25 days for them to sprout..
They will lye dormant until conditions are just right in the spring. . Mine often come up in the fall, and bloom till frost in zone 7. and then will "winter over", but most wait until spring to pop up ! So sow plenty for a great fall and spring show ! Plant depth, 1/16" or sow and rake lightly. I have a friend that sows hers right on top of our last snow, usually in Maech. They melt right into the ground with the snow !
