The listing, Pure Olive Oil and Greek Yogurt Soap has ended.
This is my favorite Olive Oil Soap, made with pure olive oil NOT EVOO with a very light lavender scent.
°°° A Little Soap Making Info °°°
~~~~~~All soaps must be made with
100% LYE, LIQUIDS AND OILS TO BECOME SOAP, IT CAN NOT BE MADE WITHOUT THESE BASIC INGREDIENTS.
I've been asked why use lye and is it safe to use lye in your process?
Lye is safe used in a controlled(no pets no kids)environment and by using safe handling procedures.
Anything stating NO LYE FORMULA probably has a DETERGENT in it which is a mixture of CHEMICALS like SLS (a chemical sudsing agent that's currently under FDA review for safe use OR is a PREMADE SOAP BASE which is basically made for crafter use. If you look at the bases ingredients it has...GUESS WHAT? ~~~~~~LYE~~~~~
Now, all my SOAPS (*) are made with Sodium Hydroxide (PURE LYE, NOT DRAINO AND SUCH) a liquid or a combination thereof, such as:
Distilled Water, Rainwater, Any Waters like Coconut Water, Juices or Milks, have sugars and will turn color as the lye reacts to it, freeze this liquid to help control this.
This mixture has to be added to oils like: Olive, Coconut, Castor, Canola, Lard, Almond, Soy, etc and Butters like Shea, Coco and Mango and many others and are producing soap.
Specialty Soaps: These often have additives like all natural ingredients such as clays, essential oils, herbs and spices, dried flowers and creams usually these are special orders and require a special request. (Like for Eczema or Acne)
*I also make bubble bars, bombs, fizzes and truffles, which don't include any lye nor do they require saphification to be processed*
Soap got mushy!
Hand made soap is a special product. Because it contains glycerin, it can retain more moisture than other soaps.
To extend the life of your hand crafted soap, place it in a well-draining soap dish. Keep in dry place out of contact with water
