Lifetime updates is when you go online attaching the USB in your computer going on Garmin's website & it updates any new construction, traffic, changes in streets etc etc. It's more & surely better described online, will look for you.

It was a gift to my brother; it was updated sometime in the past couple years. It can be updated online through Garmin anytime free of charge

I can't say new because my brother used it & it was gifted a while back. It's in excellent used condition & sadly without box. It's extremely user friendly & one of the best GPS brands (in my opinion)

It comes with a USB charger that can be used in most all newer approx 05's & up cars, or you can pick up a charger that plugs in your car lighter & charge it that way.

Ok.... I found a couple YouTube tutorials as well as directions of how to get the Garmin updates on Garmin's website as well as the gadgetpill.com's website. Hope this helps & they can explain in much better detail.
