This is SO cool! I thought the inscription was a goof but looked it up and there were actually two accepted spellings of Pennsylvania at the time that Alexander Hamilton ordered it.
This is what it says:
Proclaim LIBERTY Throughout all the Land unto all the Inhabitants Thereof Lev XXV. v X.
By Order of the ASSEMBLY of the Province of PENSYLVANIA for the State House in Philad
Pass and Stow
Philad
MDCCLIII
(Pass and Stow being the gentlemen who re-cast the bell after it first cracked)
This is about three inches high and appears to be made of pewter but I no longer have the box so I'm not certain.

It will take me a few days to get to the post office as five of my eight children are still at home and of those, I'm homeschooling the four youngest boys.

It was given to me as a gift about 10 years ago but the box was dusty as though it was older then. I didn't ask about it's origin. The giver knows that I like American historical souvenirs. I have eight kids though and we are being over run with clutter.
