Immature melons have a smooth, grey-green rind that turns yellow-white when melons are at their peak of ripeness. Cutting open the fruit releases the intoxicating aroma and delectable, orange-pink flesh reminiscent of a summer sunset. Each melon weighs about 2 pounds and is slightly oval.
Papaya Dew does not “slip” when ripe like some other melons. The best way to determine ripeness is when the rind loses the grey-green color and turns yellow- white.
