I love acorn squash, best of the aquashes. but have such a hard time growing it in upper Ohio. I goes good, but the squashes on jet about hard-ball size, then the plant wants to dry up??
well several things could be going on- do you water at night or day and also the soil could be. How bout bees do you have bees to pollinate? I've been growing my pumpkins and having the blossom rot but tried hand pollinating and it seems to be working alot better and using a soaker hose, the leaves don't like to be wet on the pumpkins. I know what you mean, here in Texas alot of our vegees will wilt when these temperatures get too high
Well, I grew some in SWC and they did great for awhile, then dried up. The resavoir on the buckets were always full. I would fill them in the morning, as I have heard that morning watering is better then evening. I think I will try these in a raised bed or ground garden to see if it makes a difference. I use to do them in another place I lived, and I had tons to overwinter in the basement (Acorn squashes).
