Description

The listing, Royalty Purple Pod Bean has ended.

Bean - Royalty Purple Pod - Phaseolus vulgaris, heirloom, non- GMO, 8 seeds

Tender Annual Bush. Heirloom. Purple bushes with short runners and purple flowers. Bright-purple stringless 5"-6" pods cook to dark green. Buff colored seeds germinate in cold, wet soil. Bred by E.M. Meader at the University of New Hampshire and introduced in 1957.

Soil & Water: Legumes like well-drained soil rich in organic matter and a moderate amount of nutrients. Water lightly at planting, medium at flowering, and heavily throughout harvest time. Avoid overhead watering which can promote disease.

Planting & Growing: Start indoors in short-season climates, or seed directly once soils have reached at least 65F, preferably after the last frost. Make small, successive plantings every 10 days for a continuous harvest.

Harvesting & Storage: Bush beans will produce all of their fruit over a few weeks' time. For best flavor, harvest the pods when they reach 1/2" in diameter regardless of their length, or leave the pods on the plant until they have completely dried. Store dry, shelled beans in an airtight container.
