The listing, NATIVE AMERICAN (WINNEBEGO) AUTOGRAPHED POST CARD has ended.
Postage card was purchased by some Michiganders on a trip to the "Dells" in 1958, which is also when the first 3 cent post cards were made available to the public (August 1). Due to the "autograph", the card was never mailed and just kept as a souvenir.
Depiction in the card is Captain Albert Yellow Thunder Jr., son of the well known historian, Colonel, Chief Yellow Thunder, and great grandson of the last of the famous War Chiefs of the Winnebago Tribe, who died in 1876, at the age of 100 years.
Albert has since passed on to the Great Hunting Grounds.
This is the only one of these particular cards I have found in searching; others of him were prior to this ( None autographed), and had him solely as the guide. Whereas with this post card, he IS the Captain of the "NA-HU-NAH".
This is a large card, measuring: 4 7/16" x 7 1/16". Upper left hand corner has a "double bend" at 1/8" & 1/4", as far as "flaws" are concerned.
WINNERS CHOICE BONUS FREE: A gold frame with matte finish glass is available, which can be standing or hung. OR if You prefer, just the card will be sent. (I'd go with the frame myself! It makes it look really nice ;>)
Happy Hunting!
