The listing, 20 Aunt Lou's Underground Railroad - Historical Tomato Seeds - Red Beefsteak has ended.
The original seeds to this variety were taken by a runaway slave, as he fled to freedom, on the underground railroad.
He shared the seeds with a woman called Aunt Lou, and she grew them, saved seeds and shared them with others.
If everyone did this varieties would never become extinct, rare, hard to get, or expensive.
If it weren't for all the seed saving efforts and sharing of these seeds in the past, they wouldn't be listed here today.
This is a regular leaved, indeterminate plant, which produced these late for me, but it was transplanted very late, so I'm very glad it managed to ripen these before frost.,
They're a very "meaty" tomato.
THIS WILL BE THE LAST INDIVIDUAL VARIETY, THAT I LIST THIS YEAR.
Thanks all you Listians for bidding!
Your credits help me to be able to get other seeds to grow out and share next year, needed supplies, personal treats for me, and Christmas presents, none of which I could afford with real money.
I hope my seeds do well for everyone, and that some who recieve the seeds will grow, save seeds and share them, for others to enjoy, and have good local, fresh food! :)
