The listing, Antique Medicine/Flavoring Extracts Bottle has ended.
This bottle was dug by me in the Napa Valley, at the same site as the last bottle I posted. It's 7 1/2" high, front reads "Dr. Prices Delicious Flavoring Extracts". It is circa mid 1800's. A Lovely piece. I'd like to see some really high bids on this item, it's a prize! The small bottle I auctioned off last week went for almost 3000, I'd like to see at least 9 on this, and you won't be sorry!
This Bottle is a Gem, I have had it since the day I dug it when it first saw daylight again in 1976, I am releasing some of my treasures now, to be admired by whomever bids highest; as I am on a mission to create a huge seed bank, and am using my credits to buy seeds and plants on Listia. 'Best of Luck to all bidders and Thanks!
You can "Google Earth" the following coordinates to see exactly where I unearthed this bottle! Longitude : 38°31'39.33"N Latitude: 122°27'50.24"W Mind you, This area of the Napa Valley has been bought up by 'well to do folks' in the past 30 years, vineyards, million dollar homes etc... I dug this in 1976, this area was still wild and abandoned, the site was an old almost falling down Victorian Mansion, that a friend of mine had rented. We stumbled upon the site of the old "privey" ...outhouse, laying covered over by years of earth. People back in those days, before indoor plumbing, would fill the "hole" in the "latrine" with whatever garbage, etc, they could find, then when the Outhouse needed to be moved they just filled the spot in with dirt, sometimes these "privey pits" can be as deep as 15 feet. Of course, due to over a hundred years of "nature's composting" all of the "yucky stuff" is gone when you dig this stuff up! ...except once, in this same dig, we found a bottle, FULL of live baby scorpions! Anyhow, I've gazed lovingly at this bottle on my windowsill throughout the years, and now, I have different things that interest me and am ready to "release" this treasure of mine, to some very lucky person out there...Don't You Just Love Listia?!!!!
