A cable-TV weather girl (Nicole Kidman) who'll do anything to become a celebrity seduces a high school student (Joaquin Phoenix) and convinces him to kill her go-nowhere husband (Matt Dillon) in this black comedy. Gus Van Sant's (MY OWN PRIVATE IDAHO, ELEPHANT) sly satire on America's tabloid mentality is loosely adapted from Joyce Maynard's chronicle of the real-life tale of husband-killer Pamela Smart.

Natasha, Thank you for bringing this item to the community to consider. I love this movie. I laughed aloud at its dark humor (kind of like the belly-laughs one of my temperment would let out at "Pulp Fiction."). I can't say that I have really "enjoyed" all of Gus' work (with "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues," and his "Psycho" remake), but he is a master of character-driven work. He is a quirky gentleman who loves film and seems to be able to get the artists he works with to give their best. Though I am reluctant to fan (I have not yet seen much of an advantage to it..... like joining clubs, sort of), I will be fanning you for your straight forward manner and generousity to the community.

Thank you so much! Fanning actually has a purpose if put to its intended use - not that many people do so, lol. Instead of randomly "exploring" auctions on your Listia homepage, you can select to browse through the auctions of people you fan. It's helpful for me, as auctions that ship to Canada are usually quite limited.
