The condition is very good; nice full rims on both sides; all images and letters are clear. You can read a few letters in Liberty on the 1912. Definitely keepers!

What is the red stuff on the '11

It is common in Liberty nickels if you have ever seen lots for sale. It seems to be a type of corrosion or something. I believe it can be cleaned off the coin with a metal polish or a cleaning agent. It may be that the coin was buried at one time or just stored in a damp environment.
