As concise a collection as one could ask for, distilling the essence of late '70s/early '80s hard rock into 10 strong doses, Records explains Foreigner better than any of their regular studio albums ever could. Essentially the work of ex-Spooky Tooth guitarist Mick Jones and singer Lou Gramm, Foreigner understood what it took to deliver loud, guitar-driven rock to FM radio. Their hooks were evident from the get-go with "Cold As Ice" and "Feels Like the First Time" and only grew stronger over time with "Jukebox Hero" and "Hot Blooded." By the time of "Waiting for a Girl Like You," Foreigner were beginning to lean harder on adult-contemporary pop, which sent them in another direction.
