Working dell tower that i picked up for free from flea market. great for running a small linux distro. no hard drive, but could install. working cd rom, and all other ports such as usb etc

they said no hard drive so therefore no windows it will have whatever windows you put in it

I know I sound incompetent but does this have the ram and other stuff if it doesn't have a hard drive? Would I need to get an operating system to go with a hard drive? I don't know these things but have a friend that can install the stuff for me if I need it. I just don't know exactly what I would need to get to make this a working tower. thanks

I am not truly computer savvy in that I need to ask the probably to you, idiotic questions I am about to ask. Does this need a hard drive only to operate? Would I need to purchase a windows program, ram, memory and other stuff too? Does it come with a graphics card, and what is a "linux distro"? Would I need to get that too? Thanks, sheepishly said....
