Description
The listing, Rare antique 1856 famous men of Britain Shakespeare William Wallace John Milton and much more! has ended.
Up for auction is a rare 1856 1st edition of Famous men of Britain. This contains a brief history of a round 35 of Britain's great men throughout history. This is the only book I've seen printed from this period and back that would group William Wallace into Britain's notable men. We all seen Braveheart and we now how that ended for Wallace. This book has authors, Kings, generals, and much more!
This is a great book in good condition. The binding is tight and hinges are good. All pages are present and intact with some minor discoloration due to age. A previous owners nam is inscribed on a blank end page.
****A lot of Listian's don't know how to reply to comments --You can check your notifications icon and click on it, it will take you to the comment and then in the comment block select the blue highlighted "Reply" button OR on your "My Listia" page, scroll down the page and on the left hand side it says "COMMENTS YOU HAVEN'T REPLIED TO" and do the same as above (clicking on the "REPLY" button). If you just add a comment on your listings people won't know you are replying to them :/ Sometimes it doesn't register as a 'reply' if you're using the phone app though --I think it's just a glitch.

I did not chose not to take a picture of it. The "page that says it is a first edition" does not exist. Not all first editions clearly state first edition like modern books. I've sold later versions of the book with the title page different years and the copyright page is 1856. George Cottrell is the author of this book he was only in business from 1856 - 70 also another key is it bound in the original brown bead cloth with title stamped in gilt on the upper board.
I wasn't trying to be rude, I apologize that I came off that way. I just wanted to make sure to my ability, if im going to place the bid i wanted. Sorry I offended you.
If it was a second or third it would show the original date of first edi ty ion, how many copies were printed initially. This is a guarantee that it is a first edition
