This auction is for a green Vaseline glass cup and plate. Not sure if they are a match but look good together! Very pretty! Vaseline glass is also sometimes called Uranium glass because it has a harmless amount of uranium in it that makes it glow under black or ultraviolet light. It was extremely popular in the Depression Era, and while lots was made much of it is gone now and is highly collectible , today.. These were probably made in the 1930'.s. You may have seen in Antiques and home magazines recently , some fabulous displays on shelves lit with black /UV light, it's an amazing effect!You can find them in most hardware stores, home depot pet stores and on the big internet sites like Amazon starting at $6. or they sell single bulbs in most hardware stores (sold as "Grow Lights"(the purple ones).Walmart carries some , too.Here's an amazing display on Pintrest!https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/14/f5/11/14f511ec10d7c168c3aab6a6b70356d9.jpg that shows how it can be displayed so beautifully in a collection!!
