1775 pre-federal issue king georgeiii half penny..do believe this to be a british imitation half penny 1770-1775..you can read the redbook i have up in 2 pics showing page 1 half penny info and the 2nd page showing group 1775 georgiusiii group 1...i would grade this coin in f/vf condition as 18th century coins are grade differntly ...great coin with outstanding details full lettering and full bold date...see pic

You should list in the description that it is an imitation. I almost bid on it. ;-)
Interesting. So the imitations were still minted in the 1700's. Given the time frame, I'd guess the American revolutionaries needed coinage so imitated the British currency. Very cool.
Yes indeed stamphound..Imitations were common used and very well manufactured it is hard to tell them apart...this one has no dentils at border and the 1 in date is straight no curved as on original..that said they are both equal in value especially in this grade...thanks Carl
