Grown in my home garden where I use organic methods, and in very rich soil. These beans grow long vines, over 6 feet tall, that are loaded with an abundance of red flowers that are a favorite of hummingbirds. They produce large black and purple / brown mottled beans in huge pods that grow between 8inches and a foot or more in length sometimes. The pod can be tough if eaten late but when young is tasty, with a meaty flavor. The beans can be eaten any time. This type of bean is native to the Americas.
