Open the memory door on the bottom and check the sticker on the RAM, best way to be 100% sure.

I have no way of knowing.....on one side of the memory stick there should be a few different numbers and manufacturer name. look for anything that resembles "PC3-8500" or post the info here

Its a satelite c6550-s5529 system unit

Well I would do that but theirs a small problem there is no ram that is why I bid on this item in hopes to regain usage of the laptop once again...

I checked the model number you provided and it does use DDR3 RAM, so this is compatible
