This Tanzanite is calibrated at THE LARGER STONE SIZES THAN MY OTHER ONES! This on is a Large 6X4MM and weighs in at approximately .65 to .68 Carats. This gemstone and all of the Tanzanites in my all of my auctions came from the exact same D-Block Mine in Tanzania, Africa. They all retain this INCREDIBLE RICH PURPLE / RICH BLUE Color with hues & Flashes of Burgundy and Red, not that washed out and pale Violet or Lavender color that the cheap Tanzanites retain. These Tanzanites are AAA Top Gem Quality Stones.

According to the ICA (International Colored Gemstone Association), Tanzanite is only found in one location worldwide! At MT. Kilimanjaro , in where else? You guessed it! Tanzania! Lol! It was named by Tiffany's Jewelry company , many years ago , who were the first to produce it into Jewelry ,(found in 1967) though it was known to be found in small quantities , pebble sized, it wasn't until Tiffany's began to promote it worldwide as a gem that Tanzanite really took off! They recommend not using Ultrasonic cleaners to clean this stone (not sure why) . On the Mohs scale of hardness I think it's like a 6.5 or 7 . The Masai were the first to locate it in small crystals.It is only found in high elevations! Making it a very rare stone indeed! Keep it away from Acids, too.90% of dealers in Tanzanite are members of the ICA, so it's a good bet it's from a trusted seller.It's a modern stone though millions of years old was only discovered in the 20th Century! Isn't that amazing??

Amazing, I had researched it many years ago before it's popularity just Exploded in late 2000. Before then you could get a 5 carat Flawless AAA Top Gem Quality gem for about $1,200 (Only that price because in 2000 they were rare as Hen's Teeth). Now a stone with those exact specs would run you from $8,500 to $18,500, WOW! Yeah I know. Kicking myself still for not getting one then. The top of the line Tanzis now have so much purple in them, the very best in the world are practically Blue with just hues of deep rich purple and red color flashes in them. I just LOVE them too!
