The winner of this auction will receive the 1797 British Cartwheel Penny shown in the attached photos.
Coins of this type bearing the likeness of King George III were only issued in 1797. These are hard to come by in nice condition and can be quite expensive. I would grade this 200+ year old coin as Fair. The date on the reverse is only partially legible but you can see it is 1797. The lettering is also only partially legible. The images are worn but recognizable. The coin has been dinged on the obverse at the 3 o’clock position. Actually the wear is quite even; the coin has great color, and is actually a pretty cool coin. It is the size of a silver dollar but much thicker, a heavy coin to be sure weighing almost a full ounce. I don’t expect it to sell real high but since I have a nicer specimen I am selling this one. It is definitely an unusual coin. Please examine the photos carefully before bidding.
