Questions & Comments
If you judge the cash to credits exchange rate by what Listia charges for credits, you won't ever get what you think is a fair amount for anything. Likewise, many people judge that $1 = 1,000 credits, and that's low.
You just need to consider what you want per dollar, and that it's going to be somewhere between what Listia charges and $1 per 1,000 credits.
If you're trying to make money, this is a poor place to do it. First, Listia does not allow its users to auction off cash, also they don't offer cash for credits themselves. Third they try to keep the exact cost of a credit murky.
You CAN go to the other side of the site, where they allow retailers to sell products for credits, (and I assume they give the retailers cash, not credits) but I personally don't ever shop over there because the stuff over there is NEVER on sale for less than you could buy at the MSRP anywhere else. If I'm going to buy something at full price, I want easy access to return it, to get it fixed, or exchanged. And REALLY, I almost NEVER buy at full price. I'll wait for a sale, or coupons, or a gift card first. That's why I'm using a website that allows end users to sell their used stuff. Because I want it for way less than retail! As do, I assume, 99% of Listia users.
One more thing. As a new user, you won't get near what more experienced sellers get for the same stuff. For 2 reasons:
1) A lot of new users try to scam people. So lots of people will not buy even medium price items. It's hard to scam people here, but it can take weeks to get your credits back, so that means you can't use those credits in the mean time.
2) Some people won't buy from new users without a 100% feedback.
3) Lots of people won't buy from people with less than 10 or more auctions under their belts.
My recommendation to all new users is to auction off a bunch of small, inexpensive, stuff BEFORE you try auctioning off anything that costs 20 or more.
Toy cars, baseball cards, perfume samples, individual games, stuff like that.
To be honest, what you're auctioning off here, if auctioned by a seasoned user, should get 200,000 credits easy, and possibly go for millions of credits.
But you have to earn the trust of the buyers first. And the only way to do that is to sell stuff and get good feedback. You'll probably get less than you should at first, so the best way to minimize your initial losses is to sell cheap stuff at first.
Also, asking for shipping will cut way back on what people are willing to bid. Because that's one of the only ways to cheat people. To demand shipping.
You cannot change the number of days once a bid has been placed plus the lowest number of days an auction can be set to is 3. I've never had it take more than 10 days to get credits returned to me when a seller hasn't responded or hasn't sent the items. Not sure why some people think it takes weeks to get credits returned to the winner. If you really want people to bid more, then you need to take more photos with your Listia ID clearly written on a piece of paper placed next to the items along with adding the names of the games that will be sent also.
Also it says free shipping but your saying the person has to pick it up, do the people who bid know that its local pick up only and you need to change that on your auction, if you say free shipping its free shipping.
Where do you live? And why can're you mail it?, I'll give you 500000 for this auction and 100000 for postage to south bend I . Say yes and I'll place the bid .oh yah I'm verified with millions. So the offer is for real.
all in all this is a free give away and get site. This has nothing to do with money or how much you receive in credits. Rather it goes low or high it is expected of everyone to send the stuff as it is considered free as you are giving it away.
The people who are asking to speed up the auction or offering a set amount of credits for you to sped it up should know that you can't do that and are causing more issues on this auction if your experienced on listia you know what a new user or experienced user can do and should know not to ask for things that can't be done. If their are bids on an auction its too late to change its not fair. Come on guys let's all do what's fair n rite and make this place trustworthy.
To buy credits it says the current value is 6,100 credits to $1.00 us dollar, seems a bit high to me I think 1,00 credits should equal $1.00 but either way you don't get money for it, you get credits when the auction ends and if you don't give the item they send back the winners credits and you get nothing. If your new for your safety n all others you should read the rules before you list anything. Don't just try to figure it out on someone else's behalf or trust that everyone will be honest. Good luck to all involved and hope it goes well.
