No. I've know people that do that, but I never done that. I usually wash with some vinegar when I complete a quilt to set the colors. And I like the pucker you can get from not pre-shrinking.
Thanks for responding. I like to use Epsom salt and vinegar to set colors. I also prefer my quilts to be flat after washing. It just 'hit me'. I'm not going to be able to bid on any of the fabric swatch auctions because I bet none of it has been preshrunk.
I'm sorry for that. There is a way, but it would take some time and effort. Stack 5-6 (or however many your sewing machine can do), and do a lrge zigzag stitch around the edges. Then, you could wash. After drying, you could sort of pull them flat and press. Then, you could use your ruler and cutter to trim off the zigzag stitch. Sounds like a lot of work, but if you really need these, it would be possible. Just an idea.
Thank you for the idea. It would work, though I'd use my surger, but I don't have the time. I have 4 small children ages 6mo, 2yr, 3yr and just turned 5yr. My 3yr old just got potty trained which is a blessing. I use cloth diapers (saves more than $250 a month) so I'm constantly doing laundry, and dishes, making food and picking up toys. Yes the kids do help pick up but tous never stay put away for more than 10min before someone wants to play again. I love being a mommy❤
Wow! You must be incredibly busy. I raised 3 children, but still quilted along the way, too. Being a Mommy is the best job on earth. Enjoy every precious moment.
