Description
The listing, Antique Victorian or Edwardian Mourning Brooch of a Precious Baby Girl has ended.
I present to you a Victorian mourning brooch that was worn in memory of a precious baby girl. The face of this sweet little angel was captured forever in time for her parents to remember her by. I don't know what happened to the photo to make it have the offset coloration. I find it strangely intriguing, and it somehow draws my attention to her angelic face. The photo is in a decorative brass frame. The original pin is missing, although the C clasp is still there. A makeshift smaller pin has been added to the back, and I think it will work sufficiently if you want to wear the brooch. It is 1" in diameter.

Questions & Comments
What does it say on the back? I can just make out "pin lock" and May but nothing else.
the reason thr photo is discolored is because it got wet. Also, why do you think it's a mourning brooch?A mourning brooch always has hair of the deceased in it.Thank you
Hi, Thanks for your comments. Many pieces of Victorian/Edwardian mourning jewelry did contain the hair of the deceased. But there are also many that did not. Brooches like this one were very affordable compared to ones you would get at a jewelers. And, as time wore on, the use of hair in mourning jewelry, or even the wearing of mourning jewelry at all, fell out of fashion. I don't believe the discoloration on the photo is a water stain. If you look closely, you can see that it follows the contours of the girl's head and shoulder. Perhaps it occurred in the processing of the photograph.
