8 seeds. Gin for 30 seeds!
Hibiscus Syricus is a woody plant commonly used as a shrub also known as Rose of Sharon ,rose mallow, and althea. Can be trained/ pruned into a mini tree shape.
Grows fairly large as a shrub with attractive edible 4-inch flowers that are usually cultivated to bloom in shades of pink, white and purple. These seeds are for the pink variety.
It’s a low maintenance shrub that tolerates pollution, making it a good choice for front gardens or near busy roads. Blooms in late summer to fall when most other flowering plants and other shrubs are starting to die back.
It will grow in plant hardiness zones 5 to 9 with minimal attention. Warmer temperatures are better, but this shrub is quite hardy. The Rose of Sharon will be fine in temperatures down to about -5 F, and can theoretically survive -20 F.
It is recommended that Rose of Sharon seeds are sown in a greenhouse in the early spring months. They should also be kept growing in the greenhouse for about 1 year. The seeds should germinate fairly quickly, and when they are large enough, transplant them into individual pots. Plant them into their permanent ground positions in the following spring.
Requires cool, moist and moderate quality soil. For best growing conditions, make sure the soil is rich in humus and is well drained. Make sure the plants are in full sunlight, as they will not grow properly in shaded areas.
It is best to make sure the tops of the Rose of Sharon are in a hot and very sunny spot.
This shrub responds extremely well to pruning, especially if done directly after flowering. The Rose of Sharon does not require pruning .
Most varieties grow 8 to 12 feet tall and 6 to 10 feet wide.
