The listing, Vintage Fragonard Signed Porcelain Oval Brooch has ended.
Beautifully kept! Exquisitely detailed brooch featuring a work by the French artist, Jean-Honors Fragonard. Fragonard died in 1806, having produced more than 550 paintings. The most popular of which were his romantic 'genre' paintings conveying an atmosphere of intimacy and veiled eroticism. This brooch features a lady presenting her suitor with flowers while he strums a romantic tune on his lyre. The brooch itself, of course, is not hand painted by the artist, but is a 'transfer' onto porcelain. This type of porcelain is often referred to as sugar porcelain due to it's unique texture. The surround of the brooch is antique gold in color and very detailed. Measuring approximately 2 1\2" to 3", it us considered a large piece. This piece would be a wonderful addition to anyone's collection. Also, wonderfully suitable for Valentine's Day as a unique and thoughtful gift.
