The listing, Fabulous Antique Celluloid Kewpie Doll 1930s Made in Japan Original Sailor Outfit has ended.
I am presenting here a totally fabulous Kewpie doll from the 1930s. Kewpie dolls were given as prizes in carnival games. She is made of celluloid, an early type of plastic, and she is wearing her original little sailor outfit. Her arms are strung so they can move easily. She is so adorable! Overall she is in very good shape. There is a blop of something on her right eye--it may be able to be removed, I don't know. The outside seam on her right leg is separated ever so slightly, really not an issue. The clothing is soiled just as you would expect when it's 80+ years old. I didn't try to wash it, but it might be possible to do so. There is a little note pinned to her skirt that reads Patricia Plummer. I wonder if that was the girl who won the doll? I left the note on the skirt, but it can be unpinned easily. Kewpie stands 6" tall. Made in Japan.
