The description on the back reads:
A PRESUMPTION OF DEATH
A NEW LORD PETER WIMSEY & HARRIET VANE MYSTERY
It is 1940 and England is at war. Harriet Vane, now Lady Peter Wimsey, flees with the children to the family's country estate. But no site is safe, particularly a county surrounded by airfields. The village buzzes with war preparations - and then a girl is found dead in the street after an air-raid drill. The crowd first thinks she is the victim of enemy fire, bu soon realizes she has been brutally murdered, and the killer is amongst them. Lord Peter, back from assignment abroad, joins Lady Harriet to find the murderer- before they find another victim.
The plot is based on "The Wimsey Papers," a series of articles by Dorothy L. Sayers published in "The Spectator" in the early years of WWII. Jill Paton Walsh was entrusted by Sayers' estate to continue the Wimsey mystery series, and brilliantly captures the voice of one of the most compelling authors of the 20th century.
