My sister is taking me out for dinner tonight to celebrate me officially getting into my grad program and getting to register for Spring classes. I love school.
I think I have mentioned that I will be getting my MBA in international business. Part of the requirements for graduation are international study abroad courses. My first one is going to be to Turkey. I must admit I know almost nothing about Turkey, so I am on a quest for for great resources for learning about Turkish culture and also learning to speak Turkish. I am not very good with other languages, but I like to be familiar with the language and customs of where I am visiting. I would love to hear of any resources that my wonderful listia family might be aware of. :)
I wrote a big post and it messed up. This woman teaches us how to use coupons and for her efforts she asks for donations to her church pantry. She shows us how to save at different stores who have rewards cards plus coupons.
I used to do really well at CVS. I just never get around there any more. I cant wait, they are building a walgreens within walking distance from my house, so that should be awesome for couponing. :)
Erin, I read your comment about Texarkana... I've just always thought it funny that the border of Texas & Arkansas has it's own name... while other state borders don't. LOL And I'm weird. When I think of GA, I think of Peaches... and Otis Redding. {Otis is AWESOME!!} When I think of FL, I think of Oranges. When I think of NY, I think of Madison Square Gardens & hotdog vendors. My brain's just odd and sometimes makes strange associations.
I often ponder about the socks. Although I have found that my sisters kids socks keep ending up at my house. Maybe the socks find other homes to go to, lol.
Nah, Chicago doesn't cause my brain to think of Pizza. However, when I think of Pizza, I think of Italy... and wonder just how much amazing food I'm missing!!
The socks are going to another place, another demension. Have you ever watched any of the Halloweentown movies? I believe something similar to that happens, lost things always go to a "lost place" LOL
Glad you had fun Tweety!! Hope everyone's had a great weekend!!
Ok, so I had a great weekend. I ended up sleeping off a sugar high today and still have a huge headache. My sister took me to the Melting Pot, a fondue resturant, to celebrate my officially getting into grad school. I am not sure who is more excited her or me. We had dark chocolate fondue. I ate chocolate covered bananas and chocolate covered strawberries. Yum, yum, yum. Then drank lots of water and been sleeping most of today.

Mamaluv my daughter is the same way. She should have been growing up in the sixties instead of me. She loves the hippie music and can't believe I don't know all those bands as well as she does. She is stuck in a rut about her clothes and says I'm stuck in my fashion. I wear my style because that is all they sell in my size.
I understand about clothing style. I am finally getting to where I can wear some different styles. It is almost overwhelming because I have been stuck with little to choose from for so long, lol. :)
Erin, I like green bean casserole, but it isn't my favorite food. It's one of those I enjoy on occasion. :)
Pointless: I've often told people I'm a hippy-reincarnate, that I was a 60s flower child that something happened to... only to come back in the 80s. LOL Seriously though, I like tie-dye and going barefoot & bell bottom {jeans}... and Nature. And as far as music goes, I like it all. Stuff that was before my time, stuff that's been out since I was born, classical stuff, newer stuff, stuff that's yet to come. :)
Has anyone been watching Vietnam in HD on the History Channel? It is the soldier's own videos and shows it from their views. This is my generation and they play the 60's music while narrating it.
Another snow I'm hooked on now is "Once Upon A Time" on ABC Sunday nights.
Here you go Pointless. It should not taste like tofu unless you use low fat tofu.
Tofu-Pumpkin Pie
Ingredients: One 16 oz can of pumpkin or fresh equivalent One 10-12 oz block of silken/soft tofu ¾ cup of sugar or equivalent substitute Your preferred pumpkin pie spices One 9 inch unbaked pie crust of your choice
Directions: Process tofu in blender until smooth. Add all other ingredients except for pie crust and process until well blended.
Preheat oven to 425 F.
Pour mixture into pie crust and bake 15 minutes. Lower heat to 350F and bake for another 40 minutes.
Chill and serve.
Notes: DO NOT use low-fat, light or similar tofu or it will taste like tofu. I personally used Mori-Nu Silken Firm Tofu.
Keep chilled until ready to serve. Will become runny if kept warm or at room temp too long.
If you don’t have a preferred pumpkin pie blend already here is one I found in a recipe online: ½ teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon ½ teaspoon ground ginger 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg. I don’t know if salt or substitute is required for a pie to come out. I don’t think I used any salt.
Paula Dean was on Dr Oz recently and he read her her rights. She has to quit smoking and start tweaking her recipes to be healthier, because everyone loves her and she needs to set a better example. She tweaked a couple recipes for his show and the audience loved them.
