Description

The listing, Early, Cold-Tolerant Siberian Tomato--10 Seeds has ended.

As its name suggests, the Siberian tomato is famous for producing even in
temperatures as low as 38 degrees, although it is not frost hardy. It grows a great
number of extra sweet 4-6 ounce great tasting tomatoes. This variety sets fruit
very early, in as little as 48 days. Determinate.

In 1989, seed expert Bill McDorman traveled to the USSR hoping to obtain seed of
Siberian tomatoes. Through the generosity of a woman at the Siberian Institute of
Horticulture, a selection of seeds from 50 different Siberian heirloom tomato
varieties was given to Mr. McDorman for the use of American gardeners. This dwarf
variety, simply called "Siberian," is capable of setting fruit at 38 degrees F, although
it is not extremely frost hardy.
