Well first 14k P does not mean plated, it stands for 14k plumb gold, meaning it is exactly 58.5 % gold, if they dont take that, they have no idea what they are doing, around here even Pawnshops buy gold-filled and sell it to gold refiners, As I desribed the pieces are Hallmarked 1/5 10k G,F, 1/10 10k G.F, 1/20 12k/14k, a couple are marked G.F(usually 1/20 goldfilled). If you read previous comments, I have given an detailed description.

I have really tried to explain this to you, they are not gold plated, they are gold filled, look up gold filled on the internet, I described the markings to you, but here we go, if the item weighs 10 grams and it is gold filled then 1/10th of it is gold, so 1 gram is 10k or 12k or 14k, where as gold plating it is 1/100th gold, so gold filled has a higher gold content. there are no other markings on these besides the sones that I have desribed. Oh and just so you know, they really ripped you off on the watch, although I have never seen jewelry made from 24kt in the U.S it is illegal, only coins are made of 24k .999, the highest carat here in the U.S is 18k and in some countries 22k, right now a gram of 24k pure gold would be worth around $55 dollars, in my expierence nugget watchs weigh over 15 grams, that would $825, they paid you less than half the scrap value. That is the best I can do, I have answered this several times and frankly I dont know how to explain it to you any better.

Gold Filled: Gold filled is an actual layer of gold-pressure bonded to another metal. Gold filled is not to be confused with gold plating as filled literally has 100% more gold than gold plating. Gold filled is much more valuable and tarnish resistant. It does not flake off, rub off or turn colors. As a matter of fact, anyone who can wear gold can wear gold filled without worries of any allergic reaction to the jewelry. Gold filled jewelry is an economical alternative to solid gold!

Hi, why don't you use this goldfilled jewelry in your jewelry making?

Refining gold filled is a little harder then refining higher gold content items, also I mainly work with silver, sometimes I use gold accents, but mainly silver.

Government Regulation: Gold filled items are regulated by the government. These items are therefore so much better then gold plated which has no regulations at all. Gold filled jewelry is made from solid gold and filled with other alloys such as rhodium (a member of the platinum family), brass, and sterling silver. Gold filled wears, looks and lasts like solid gold because its outer surface IS solid gold. Everything you can see and touch is pure gold. In the jewelry industry the quantity of gold must be at least 1/20th by weight of the total product.
